Whisper it to food lovers in the Algarve - Pop Up is back.

The gourmet Pop Up restaurants which sprang into life in summer 2010 will be back at Vale do Lobo’s Parque do Golfe Sculpture Garden in July for one night only on 28 July 2011.

Headlining the evening will be Siegfried Danler-Heinemann, the Michelin-starred chef from Amadeus who has recently moved to Berlin, making a welcome return to the Algarve especially for Pop Up 2011.

Chef Jonnie Pratt from Almancil’s Bistro des Z’Artes returns to provide the canapés from a specially-made outdoor ‘live’ kitchen, courtesy of luxury kitchen provider Leiken. The Algarve’s favourite wine producer Rui Virginia from Quinta do Barranco Longo will be turning everything pink with his delightful Rosé wines, and will be on hand to discuss Algarve wine production and its place on the global stage.

Appearing for the first time will be Gisela Matthjis and her team from the region’s leading private catering company Fine Dining in Style. Gisela’s team has trained in top Michelin-star restaurants in Portugal and overseas, and will provide the main course as well as ensure that the service runs like clockwork, and that guests enjoy a dining experience to remember under the stars.

A team of leading Algarvian chefs will also be on hand to provide the ‘live cooking’ starters with a theme of Food Heroes - amazing products, passionate chefs and a choice of Portugal’s best produce.

To drink, guests will experience an extravaganza of port with the full spectrum of this world-famous drink: rosé, white, tawny, ruby, vintage, late bottled vintage and Colheitas. The port will be sponsored by Real Companhia Velha, one of the oldest port wine companies in the Douro, established in 1756. As owners of the largest wine-growing area in the Douro valley, Real Companhia Velha will also be showcasing some of the extraordinary wines they produce from their vineyards, including Quinta de Cidro, Quinta dos Aciprestes, Porca de Murça, Evel, Grandjo and Quinta de Ventozelo.

Representing the ‘New World style’ wines of the Alentejo meanwhile will be the award-winning Herdade dos Grous range, from Vila Vita Parc’s estate near Beja.
